The Story You Tell Yourself Is Keeping You Small

There are stories women inherit before they ever have the chance to question them.

"Be agreeable."

"Don't ask for too much."

"You're hard to love."

"You have to earn love."

"If you keep giving, eventually they'll choose you."

Some of those stories were spoken out loud.

Others were learned by watching the women who came before you.

You watched women apologize for taking up space.

You watched women mistake sacrifice for love.

You watched women carry entire families while convincing themselves they were "just being strong".

Eventually, those stories became your own.

You stopped asking for what you needed because you didn't want to seem difficult.

You accepted less because you convinced yourself you should be grateful for anything.

You called settling "being realistic"

The hardest stories to let go of aren't always the ones someone else told you.

They're the one's you've repeated to yourself for years.

The ones that sound like your own voice.

Healing isn't just about recovering from what happened to you.

It's about questioning the beliefs you built because of it.

Not every thought deserves your trust.

Not every belief deserves a permanent place in your life.

The woman you're becoming may require letting go of the story that once helped the girl inside you survive.

Question of the Day

What belief about yourself have you accepted as truth without ever stopping to ask where it came from ?
